10th Anniversary Concert featuring Ana María Martínez

Aperio celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special event featuring internationally acclaimed soprano Ana María Martínez. This program revels in sounds by composers from Argentina, Cuba, Brazil, and Spain featuring a mix of dances and songs characteristic of the New World. Grammy Award winner Martínez is considered to be one of the foremost sopranos of the time, with an international career that spans the world’s most important opera houses and concert halls. Aperio’s program features Martínez in the celebrated Bachianas Brasileras No. 5 by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, and in vocal selections by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona and Spanish composers Xavier Montsalvatge and Moreno Torroba. Framing these delightful vocalizes are popular styled works by the revered Argentinean composer Alberto Ginastera and Cuban expatriate Paquito D’Rivera.
