2016 Lunar New Year Celebrations in Houston
Often called “Chinese New Year,” the Lunar New Year is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Chinese populations, including (in addition to China and Hong Kong) Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius, and the Philippines. And, yes, we do have celebrations throughout Houston as well.
It’s a major holiday for the Chinese community and marks the beginning of a new animal zodiac. This year Lunar New Year is on Monday, February 8, 2016. And the new year is the year of the Monkey.
Here’s a brief list of what’s going on in Houston to celebrate Lunar New Year. Please check with the venue for information on tickets.
