We excited to bring you the 9th Annual Frida Festival! This festival unites the community through creative expression by collaborating with local artists and businesses to celebrate the life of one of Latin America’s most highly respected and influential visual artists – Frida Kahlo!
The celebrations will showcase our community talents in art, music, dance, poetry and other forms of expression. Guests will enjoy the food, refreshments and merchandise provided by the vendors and surrounding businesses.
Bring your uni-brows and get ready for the Frida Look Alike Contest! Adult contest is on April 11th, 8:30PM and the Kids contest is on April 19th, 4PM.
Luz De Luna photography will be taking professional photographs with a Frida inspired background. Come in your costumes!
Martha De La Paz will be performing three dances from different regions of Mexico; El Son de la Negra from the state of Jalisco, Las Amarillas from the state of Guerrero and El Pavido Navido a Norteña from the state of Nuevo León. Martha De La Paz was born in Acapulco, Guerrero Mexico. She has been a school teacher for 15 years, she is a United States Army Veteran, a mother of two sons and has danced for various dance companies here in Houston.
