With a unique “mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia, and rock” (LA Times), Las Cafeteras fuses traditional music from Mexico with modern rhythms and sounds from the streets of East Los Angeles. Las Cafeteras effortlessly crosses musical borders with their vibrant and updated take on the coastal Mexican musical genre son jarocho, which hails from Veracruz, Mexico, infusing their music with all the sounds of the Caribbean. Las Cafeteras boasts an impressive lineup of collaborators, with the likes of Juanes, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Lila Downs, and Talib Kweli. Called “urgent, relevant music” by the BBC and the “Best Latin Alternative Band” by LA Weekly, this FREE concert at Miller Outdoor Theater is one that will excite fans of both traditional and modern music.
