La Fiera de Ojinaga headlines Go Tejano Day 2023
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Go Tejano Day is one of the most popular “special days” held during the Rodeo, and this year it’s taking place on Sunday, March 12th, 2023. Typically the day that breaks the Rodeo’s records for attendance is packed with various activities and entertainment.
This year’s events will include live music on the Stars Over Texas Stage and in the Champion Wine Garden, and the Mariachi Invitational Semifinals in The Hideout. Additionally, there will be a Fiesta Charra in the NRG Center Main Arena, a colorful exhibition of traditional Mexican folk dance, music, and horseback riding.
One of the day’s main highlights will be the concert by the musical group La Fiera de Ojinaga. This five-member band has deep roots in traditional Mexican norteño music, and they formed in 2012 with plans to only record an album for themselves. However, they quickly gained a following in both the United States and Mexico, and in 2013, they signed a recording contract with Azteca Records.
La Fiera de Ojinaga has released over ten albums and shows no signs of slowing down. Their song, “Imposible y Prohibido,” has become one of the most viewed YouTube videos on the Azteca Music Group channel. Their track, “La Luna de Miel,” earned them their first No. 1 on a Billboard Chart in 2022.
With over 100 songs in their catalog, fans are excited to see them in concert. The group has over 680 thousand monthly Spotify listeners and over 200 million views on YouTube. The group’s Chihuahua-style music and high-energy stage presence make them a must-see live act. They are well respected by the Regional Mexican music community and loved by many. This will be their debut performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and it’s sure to be a great show.
Some of their top songs include “La Boca Les Callamos,” “No Paras de Hacerme Feliz,” “Te Vas a Acordar de Mi,” “En Otro Canal,” and “Vacío.”
Go Tejano Day, presented by Fiesta Mart, is a great opportunity to come together and enjoy some fantastic entertainment. Buy your tickets to the concert on the Rodeo website.
