How much money does it take to live comfortably in Houston?
Houston has a reputation for being an affordable city. It’s one of the things that has helped continue selling houses in this city while the rest of the country has slowed down (that and the great economy). But how much money do you actually need to make to live a comfortable life in Houston?
Business Insider answers this question for us in a look at take home salaries needed to live in 15 cities in the country. They estimate that it takes $131,400 a year in take home pay. This includes $65,700 for necessities, $39,420 for discretionary spending, and $26,280 for savings.
Now you know. That’s a lot more money than I thought it would be. And no other city in the list came in for a lower recommended take home pay.
