
Houston Poet Laureate launches first poetry book
Houston Poet Laureate Gwendolyn Zepeda will be launching her newest book, and her first book of poetry, later this month:

The Houston Public Library and Arte Público Press are hosting this free event. Zepeda will discuss Falling in Love with Fellow Prisoners . and sign copies of the book. In this collection, Zepeda captures the aching loneliness and and vulnerability of contemporary urban life.
If you’ve never attended a reading with Zepeda, you need to check this out. She’s talented, quirky and engaging, and she manages to make poetry into something fresh and unexpected.
Zepeda is Houston’s first Poet Laureate, the author of a short-story collection, To the Last Man I Slept With and All the Jerks Just Like Him (Arte Público Press, 2004), and three novels: Houston, We Have a Problema (Grand Central Publishing, 2009), Lone Star Legend (Grand Central Publishing, 2010), and Better with You Here (Grand Central Publishing, 2012). She is a native of Houston, Texas.
