Harris County Sheriff’s Office promotions
Making the news this week is the recent promotion of Harris County Deputy Sheriffs Penny Crianza, Debra Schmidt and Shelia Jones to the rank of major. The promotions, made by Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, mark the first time that three women are serving in such a high rank in the department at the same time.
Crianza, who served as IT director for the past four years, heads up the Systems Intelligence and Strategic Analysis Bureau. Her new position uses computer power to produce information about crime hot spots and data analysis. The bureau was created to ensure technological support of the Sheriff’s Office.
