Take a journey south of the border as Mixteco Ballet Folklorico brings Mexico’s diverse regions to life on stage. The performance begins in Nuevo León with lively dances influenced by European polkas and huapangos. The energy continues in Veracruz with the intricate footwork of the Zapateado Jarocho and the crowd-favorite La Bamba, where dancers skillfully tie a knot with a long red ribbon.
The finale explodes with color and music from Jalisco. Mariachi music fills the air as dancers in ribboned dresses and charros in sombreros perform the legendary Mexican Hat Dance, El Jarabe Tapatío, leaving the audience cheering, “¡Viva México!”
Presented by Young Audiences of Houston, this performance highlights the beauty of Mexican traditions while educating and inspiring audiences of all ages.
