The Alley Theatre presents “American Mariachi,” a play that will take you on a journey of dreams, love, and tradition like no other. Set in the groovy 1970s, “American Mariachi” introduces us to Lucha, a young woman with a heart as big as Texas. She’s got a dream that’s even bigger – forming an all-girl mariachi band. But wait, in those days, girls just didn’t do that! Or did they?
This heartwarming clash of cultures showcases what it means to embrace all of your heritage, defy stereotypes, and break free from societal norms. It’s a story that will make you laugh, cry, and most importantly, believe in the power of music to celebrate, honor, and heal.
