El Pollo Loco has shrimp! #ad
This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.
In time for Easter (and Lent), El Pollo Loco is offering shrimp dishes. For me what this means is that I can grab a meal at El Pollo Loco on Fridays, when my other options are limited. Or at least it gives me a choice from the fried seafood that normally features as my entree on Fridays.
The new dishes include Shrimp Mango Taco, Shrimp Verde Enchiladas, Shrimp & Chicken Avocado Bowl, and Avocado Shrimp Salad. Of these I tasted the Shrimp & Chicken Avocado Bowl and the Avocado Shrimp Salad. I want to go back and taste the other two.
The Shrimp & Chicken Avocado Bowl was very filling and tasty enough without the dressing I kept trying to put on it. (I think I was trying to convince myself it was a salad.) The dish has rice and beans with (freshly made) pico, cilantro, cabbage, avocado and enough of their signature fire-grilled chicken and marinated Baja Shrimp to fill you up.
The Avocado Shrimp Salad was a lighter selection, and one that even had the word “salad” in the name. They start out with lettuce and mango salsa, then add avocado, cotija cheese and crispy tortilla strips; of course, the last ingredient is the marinated Baja Shrimp. I did add dressing on this, with the creamy cilantro dressing being my favorite.
